the journey begins
After a couple of years of photographic hits and misses, I finally found my happy place, photographing my vent characters, and my craft began to take me in a whole new direction. And excite me. In 2017 I registered Playful Art. And my Copyright. First came the sale of prints. Then I created the greeting cards. And finally the therapeutic art and commissioned pieces emerged. I also found time to enlist the help of a writing coach, thank you Linnet Hunter, and a publishing mentor, thank you Neal Drinnan, during this time. Which was such a good thing. For me.
Dymond & Dymond, thank you Roz and Pete Dymond, own a giftware shop in Birregurra and offered to stock our greeting cards and prints. It’s been a wonderful experience for us all, and the success of this joint venture now has me sitting here, writing the copy for my website. And a book draft. And it’s all so terribly exciting.
The PA Team and I now venture out on location. Around town. And in Colac. Several of the images on my cards were shot at local business locations. It’s certainly been a win win outcome for them. And us. And the sale of cards is testament to that. So much so we now have businesses contacting us for photo shoots. And people offering props for shoots. It’s just incredible!
We'll endeavour to keep you up to date with what's happening at Playful Art. So that you get to experience some of this wonderfully wild and whacky journey with us. We simply can't keep all this fun to ourselves!
Playful Art is located in the township of Birregurra. Australia. Or Birre for short. It lies on Gulidjan Country. Land of our Aboriginal people. And it’s a delightful country town nestled in the foothills of the Otway Ranges in south west Victoria. It’s a lovely neighbourhood. Home to a diverse group of individuals. And nationalities. And with a flourishing arts and music scene, the town has a vibe and spirit that’s both welcoming and infectious. The Playful Art characters have slotted into Birre life just nicely. As have I. So I guess we’re part of the hood, you might say.
